Spring Cleaning Tips this Autumn

Black woman with helpful Spring Cleaning Tips

Spring cleaning before summer is a great way of getting your home ready for the warmer weather of summer. So why not have an autumn clean up before the cold of winter comes knocking on our doors? Have a look at these spring autumn cleaning tip that will help you clean your home in a jiffy.

Rearrange your cupboards

Now is a great time to re-organise your cupboards. Sort through your clothes and set aside the items that you may want to donate to a clothing bank. Then pack all your summer clothes to the back of the cupboard and bring your fluffy, warm clothes to the front where they will be within easy reach for the coming winter.

Deep Clean Your Kitchen

Put the juice of one lemon and it’s rinds in a bowl in the microwave oven. Switch the microwave on for 2 minutes then let it stand for another 5 minutes. The steam from the juice will loosen the grime that might be stuck around the interior and the door and will make it easy to simply wipe clean.

Do an empty run with your dishwasher; this helps to clean out the oils and dirt that may have accumulated over time. An especially useful tip during autumn and winter would be to add some bleach to a normal cycle to kill all those winter cold germs. By the time the run is complete, the bleach will be completely washed away and your dishes will be sterilised and safe for use.

Give your oven and stove a good scrub. Natural ingredients like lemon juice and vinegar are great for dissolving fatty oils that build up over time. Wash all components separately to ensure a thorough cleaning.

Clean Out The Kids’ Room

Let the kids help you to sort through their clothes and toys. Set up three bins marked for the items they’d 1) want to keep, 2) the things that are broken beyond repair and needs to get thrown away, and 3) the clothes and toys they would like to donate to charity. This is something you can do as a family together up to 2 or 3 times a year. Since birthdays, Christmases and simply growing up means that there are endless items being added to their rooms. As an added bonus, you can use this as an opportunity to teach your children some great values.

Home Cleaning Made Easy

Prioritise the jobs you would like to get done around the house, sorting them into categories from ‘quick and easy’ to ‘this could take the whole day’. This helps you to manage your time better by seeing how you can fit each job into your schedule.

Pick a day over the weekend where you know you have no other engagements. Remember to pace yourself, taking breaks to rest. It is useful to have a friend or family member who is willing to help you with the bigger tasks like cleaning out and repacking the garage.

If you do regular small cleaning up tasks around the house, then when the time comes to deep clean your home you may find the job smaller and easier to tackle. Leaving things to pile up could leave you disheartened and frustrated before you have even started!
